As a self-taught Minnesota artist, I focus on the beautiful varieties of native Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa woods; allowing the wood to determine the project it will be used for. My locally salvaged and reclaimed wood sources vary from our own wood pile, local tree services and customers not wanting a beloved storm damaged tree going to waste.
My work encompasses a wide range of styles and price points, from everyday use bowls to heirloom quality cribbage bowls and elaborate statement pieces.
I am not a production woodworker; each piece is one of a kind. I pride myself in not only appealing to the eye but also to the touch, spending countless hours on my finishes. It is in the fine details of the grains, live edges, lines, curves, and finishes that I aim to excel and set my work apart.
My wife Jen assists with the business side of things. We sell the majority of work at art fairs throughout the Midwest. We’d love to have you visit us in person!
Our intent is to bring the organic elegance of the Northwoods into our customer’s home.
I use salvaged and reclaimed wood, sourcing from fallen and storm damaged trees. I’m not looking for the straight beautiful log…I am always on the search for the forked sections (where 2 branches meet), burls, weathered grains and unexpected patterns that can only be created by time and nature. I believe there is beauty in using what already exists, in honoring the history held within each piece of wood. Reclaiming materials is not just a sustainable choice, it is a creative one. It allows the past to shape the present and adds depth to every finished form.
