Description
Heirloom Quality Cribbage Bowl
Hand crafted by Minnesota artist Eric Helland; the Duluth MN salvaged Silver Maple has been paired with nostalgic Lures of the Past playing cards from artist Jon Q Wright for a one of kind statement piece!
The beautifully grained bowl features two resin tracks accommodating two or four players paired. Decorative and functional card slot runs the circumference of the bowl enabling players to see each other’s cards over the bowl. Subtle white resin highlights the inner rim of the bowl while light burning of the wood enhances the antique feel. Unique bowl design is perfect for a coffee table display and can hold your crib or family game night snacks!
Play requires one revolution around the 120 holes and peg out with 121. Skunk lines are marked in red and every 5 holes are marked in green for easy pegging.
Wood is finished with a food safe butcher block conditioner (mineral oil/beeswax), which can be reapplied as needed and is readily available online and at local stores.
Measures 12 5/8″ wide x 3 11/16″ high x 2 1/2″ bowl depth.
Artist signature, piece detail and number are on the bottom of the bowl.
Price differences in cribbage bowls reflect the type of wood, size, finish, and time involved with added details. Colors on phone and computer screens can vary. Wood can be hard to photograph; I try to depict the actual colors as accurate as possible.
I’m not a production turner; I do not use automated machinery. Each bowl starts as a locally sourced log, before being roughed out with the chainsaw and bandsaw then receives an initial turn on the lathe. Bowls of this size can take up to two years to dry before being turned again, pouring the resin track, meticulously hand sanding and finishing.
I sand the majority of my pieces to at least 1000 grit and do go up to 3000 grit with some of my darker colored woods. The smooth finish allows you to simply wipe as needed with a dry cloth, chemical cleaners should never be needed in general care.
Bowl cards and pegs will be professionally packaged and insured. Free shipping within the continental US or local pickup available. Please contact me to discuss the price of additional shipping requests or for further details regarding the bowl.
