Description
Heirloom Quality Cribbage Bowl
Hand crafted by Minnesota artist Eric Helland; the Duluth MN salvaged Silver Maple has been dyed to give the wood a subtle camouflaged look that accentuates the beautiful natural flare grain of the wood. Paired with the pictured deck of classic USA made Bicycle playing cards it makes the perfect statement piece!
The handsome design also features a natural bark inclusion on the side and a contrasting bottom that has been left natural.
Three resin tracks can accommodate two, three or four players partnered. Unique bowl design is intended for a coffee table display, no more putting your cribbage game away! Play requires one revolution around the 120 holes and peg out with 121. Skunk lines are marked in gold, and every 5 holes are marked in silver for easy pegging. Pictured cards and pegs are included.
Measures 14 3/8 wide x 3 3/4 high x 2 9/16 bowl depth. This is a solid heavier weighted bowl.
Artist signature, piece detail and number are marked on the bottom of the bowl.
Price differences in cribbage bowls reflect the type of wood, size, finish, and time involved with added details. Colors on phone and computer screens can vary. Wood can be hard to photograph; I try to depict the actual colors as accurate as possible.
I am not a production turner; I do not use automated machinery. Each bowl starts as a locally sourced log, before being roughed out with the chainsaw and bandsaw then receives an initial turn on the lathe. Bowls of this size can take up to two years to dry before being turned again, pouring the resin track, meticulously hand sanding and finishing. Due to the hand-crafted process subtle variations in the resin may be noted. Each piece is truly one of a kind.
The wood dye is applied in multiple steps, sanding between each application until the desired color is achieved. I sand the majority of my pieces to at least 1000 grit and do go up to 3000 grit with some of my darker colored woods. Bowl is finished with a gloss poly, the smooth finish allows you to simply wipe as needed with a dry cloth, chemical cleaners should never be needed in general care.
Bowl, cards and pegs will be professionally packaged and insured. Free shipping within the continental US or local pickup available. Please contact me to discuss the price of additional shipping requests or for further details regarding the bowl.
