Art Request Form

As a self-taught Minnesota artist, I focus on the beautiful varieties of native Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa woods; allowing the wood to determine the project it will be used for. My locally salvaged and reclaimed wood sources vary from our own wood pile, local tree services and customers not wanting a beloved storm damaged tree going to waste.

My work encompasses a wide range of styles and price points, from everyday use bowls to heirloom quality cribbage bowls and elaborate statement pieces.

Custom Pieces Made For You

  • Sourcing the Wood
I start by finding wood with character. Most of it comes from reclaimed sources—fallen trees, storm-damaged logs, or leftover cuts from local mills.

  • Evaluating the Material
Before I begin shaping, I spend time with the wood. I look for grain patterns, knots, and natural curves that will guide the final form.

  • Turning and Sculpting
Depending on the piece, I either turn it on a lathe or sculpt it freehand. This is where the bowl or sculpture really begins to take form.

  • Refining the Surface
I sand and shape by hand, smoothing the wood while keeping the organic textures and imperfections that give each piece its personality.

  • Finishing
I apply a natural oil finish to bring out the grain and protect the wood. The goal is to highlight what is already there, not cover it up.

  • Letting it Breathe
Once finished, each piece is set aside to rest. This pause allows the wood to settle and ensures the final form is stable and lasting.
