Paper Birch & Walnut Hollow Vessel
The Paper Birch was salvaged from a crotch section which is the area under where two branches meet or “fork”. The flare look of the wood grain in this section is considered prime wood and it is what gives this piece its unique patterns. The birch has been dyed with both black and brown and sanded after each step. A delicate walnut finial top and square foot finish off the piece. The walnut has been burned around the perimeter. An oil base finish has been used both inside and out and buffed to a high gloss.
Artist signature and piece detail is on the bottom of the vessel.
5.375" X 7.125" X 6.125"
I sand the majority of my pieces to at least 1000 grit and do go up to 3000 grit with some of my darker colored woods. The smooth finish allows you to simply wipe as needed with a dry cloth, chemical cleaners should never be needed in general care.
Vessel will be professionally packaged and insured. Free shipping within the continental US or local pickup available. Please contact me to discuss the price of additional shipping requests or for further details regarding the piece.
